| August 2009 Student of the Month | "I had done a lot of damage to my knees and back from years of snowboarding and playing rugby and almost instantly started to feel the benefits from the yoga practice. The most amazing thing is how much more at peace I feel in my daily life now." | | I had been considering taking up yoga for a while as a way to help my bike training. I needed something to help get me over the edge while training for the Hotter then Hell and cross racing. I had noticed that an old friend from California was very much into yoga (now a Bikram instructor) and when I asked him what type of practice he thought I should take he talked me into trying Bikram. So in early March I decided to give it a try and instantly became addicted.
Since I first started I can not believe how much the practice has changed me both physically, mentally and emotionally. The first change I noticed was that I was sleeping better at night, then I noticed that I was able to control my breathing on bike rides better and was getting less fatigued on long rides. I had done a lot of damage to my knees and back from years of snowboarding and playing rugby and almost instantly started to feel the benefits from the yoga practice. My knees had suffered from multiple hyper extensions and sprains and now they feel as if I had never damaged them. I've suffered in my back for a long time from compressing a vertebrate and although it's not 100% yet I can now spend all day on my feet without any problems.
The most amazing thing is how much more at peace I feel in my daily life now. I find it easier to control my emotions and just seem to be happier in my day to day life. I've always been a happy person, but I just seem to have an even better outlook on life since starting Bikram yoga. It truly is amazing how 90 minutes of hot torture has repaired me physically and helped me mentally.
Thank you Bikram, thank you Bikram Dallas, and thank you to all my fellow yogis.
